So we've reached the final week. Who would have thought that, that very strange day last March when you were told Leo Varadkar had announced that all schools would be closed for two weeks, would be your last day in school for the year? I'm sure you've had days when you missed your friends, days when you just didn't feel like doing your school work, days when you were bored and would have loved to be back in school and days when the sun beamed down and you wanted this time to go on forever. We really hope that you've taken something from the experience and will have some happy memories of this time with your families. We want to congratulate you all on your work and to thank your parents for supporting you and also for supporting us teachers in doing our job. For this last week, we suggest you take it easy, do something fun, read a book, finish off a bit of work, do some art, get active, go on a virtual school tour (see below), go on an adventure in your locality, have fun. Clean out your schoolbag and take all the books that belong to the school... readers, PM plus books, class novels, Sin é, Planet Maths, put them safely in a bag together and put them somewhere you can find them to return to us in August. Maybe you could take a few minutes to write us an email about your experience, send us some final photos and reflect on this time. We hope to see you all on Friday on Zoom for a final goodbye. We have missed you all and are looking forward to seeing you in August, glad to be back and ready for work. Of course plans are afoot to mark this occasion for 6th class but we would like to give them a mention here. Abbie, Muireann, Dáire, Fionn, Eve and Jack, we thank you all for your contribution to life in Lisboduff NS over the past 8 years. We are sorry that you didn't get to finish out your year together but hope that your seven and three quarter years here will have created a bond that will last and that you will always have a friendly smile for one another. Have a great week everyone! Slán go fóill, Mrs. Burns, Ms. Connolly, Mrs. Murphy, Ms. Dempsey and Madge Welcome to your final week of school, and what better way to finish it off than to go on a few school tours of your choice!!

Hello everyone, At this time of year, we are all usually looking forward to ‘Sports Week’. To ensure you don’t miss out we are providing sporting activities for every day next week so that you can experience ‘Sports Week’ at home! We would love for you all to participate, have fun and create lovely memories with your families. There will be games posted for each day next week that work on fundamental movement skills (running, throwing, kicking, balancing as well as traditional sports). I have added the link for Monday’s activities – simply click on Monday beneath this post. Activities for each day will be posted the evening before. Just click on the day to access the activities. There are 3 activities to choose from every day: Activity 1 - geared towards the junior end of the school. Activity 2 – geared towards middle classes. Activity 3 – geared towards senior end of the school. (NB: this is not prescriptive. Depending on the task, a younger child could perform a level 2/3 activity and vice versa. The goal is to get your child moving and having fun so you can adapt activities to suit your child). There are also videos for each activity to demonstrate the tasks. We would love for you to participate in at least 1 of the activities every day. You are more than welcome to do all 3 also! If you do not have the equipment for the activity there are household alternatives. To access the suggested household alternatives click here. PHOTOS To document ‘Home Sports Week’ we would love if you could send photos of the various activities you participated in so we can post them on the website. This would be a nice way for you to share your ‘Sports Week’ experiences with your friends. Please send all the photos to: [email protected] You can also record the activities you complete throughout the week (optional). Click here for the template. At the end of the week you can design and colour a medal for your participation in ‘Sports Week’. Click here for the template. Photos of medals and sports week records also welcome via email – [email protected] We hope you and your family have lots of FUN during ‘Sports Week’! While we are on the theme of sport, we would encourage you to learn about water safety this week. Click on the image to find resources for your class level. |
