Active Schools Week 2018
What a busy week we had! It was non stop action and fun! All made possible by our committee, sub committee and play leaders who designed an action packed week and all worked together to keep everything running smoothly.
The link below will bring you to the timetable of activities that the committee planned for the week. Unfortunately the rain stopped us doing our Spring clean, be we plan to do it next week.
There are also suggestions for Active Homework that we all did this week.

The Daily Mile
We did the Daily Mile every morning as a whole school. We had music playing to keep us motivated and we all worked towards improving on our personal best as the week went on. We invited the Parents to join us on the final day and finished up with a dance. We plan to do the daily mile again in June.
Active Breaks
It was all hands on deck with our Committee, Sub Committee and Play Leaders all working hard to plan a week of Extra Active Breaks. We had obstacle courses, a penalty shoot out, stations, relays, parachute games, dodge ball and more. We also had music every day to add to the fun.
Taster Sessions
We were very lucky to have some fantastic taster sessions from the local Rugby and Soccer Clubs. Some of us are members already but lots of us are thinking of joining these fantastic clubs because we enjoyed the taster sessions so much.
Fun Activities
There are lots of fun ways to stay active and we tried a few of them this week. We have grown to love Tug of War here in Lisboduff NS, so our Active Schools Week wouldn't have been complete without a whole school competition. Some of the senior pupils worked on some dances we could all try and they really did a fantastic job. The juniors did a yoga session with Olivia too.
Active Travel and Bike Safety
Active travel can be difficult here in Lisboduff NS because the cars go pretty fast and the roads are narrow. We all got High Vis vests this week and our teachers talked to us about road safety. The children who live locally made an extra effort to walk to school this week and we had one cyclist.
One of our parents is a member of local cycling club, DB Cycling Club and he gave us talk on bike safety.

Forest Walk
We are so lucky here in Lisboduff to have the fantastic Dartrey Forest Park so close by and it was a beautiful sunny day as we set off on our adventure. We were delighted that Ms. Mc Aleer, who retired last year, was able to join us and share her knowledge of the forest, nature and local History.
The Seniors went on a long walk and learned about Lord Coote and Lady Hill of Bellamont House. We took our tablets with us to take photos of all the wildflowers we found. We also saw swans, ducks, deer, tadpoles and lots more.
The Juniors visited Erica's Fairy Forest and did a nature walk and wildflower hunt. They also found a secret tunnel in the trees and played some games.
We all met up back at the picnic area for a rest and a well earned lunch and rest.
